Welcome to the John Coltrane Memorial Concert. We hope you will take time to browse and
become informed and familiar with what we have to offer. The John Coltrane Memorial Concert
(JCMC) has been held annually in Boston since its inception in 1977. It is the world's oldest
annual performance tribute to the musical and spiritual legacy of the great master. The JCMC
was conceived andcreated by Black American musicians who deeply understood the blessings
and messages that 'Trane shared through the music. Through the continued commitment
of a core group of Boston based musicians and the continued interest and support of
listeners, the JCMC has evolved into a major cultural event.

The purpose of the JCMC is to reflect on the rich musical and spiritual legacy of 'Trane through contemporary interpretations of his works, to inspire us all to work toward developing our full capacities as human beings, and to work for world peace.
So with that in mind, we present much of the history of the JCMC in this website. Spend some time with us.
